RFP: Guest Artists

 

Guest Artists present art groups, workshops, and experiences for middle school and high school youth in summer programming (July/August). 

 

Direct Supervisors: Laura Menucci, Outreach Coordinator and Summer Supervisor and Käthe Swaback, Program Director.

 

Hours: Between 4 and 40 hours in July or August depending on proposal.  Possible work also in school year.

 

Compensation: Artists will be compensated up to $65/hour (depending on experience) and will also have a budget for supplies. 

 

 

Responsibilities:

 

RAW is accepting proposals for Guest Artists to teach at RAW this summer. Proposed classes must begin to address one of RAW’s goals:

 

 

I CREATE: Builds Artistic, Problem Solving, and Expressive Skills

Youth develop skills in artistic engagement, problem solving, critical thinking, and expression.

I AM:Strengthens Identity

Youth develop confidence, knowledge of self,an informed cultural identity, and a positive view of their future.

WE CONNECT: Develops Community

Youth develop meaningful relationships and civic engagement as they contribute to and are recognized by an inclusive community

Qualifications:

 

 

  • Evidence of ability to challenge and engage youth through the arts (our youth are particularly interested in printmaking, painting, sculpture, fashion design, and/or film).
  • Has a minimum of two years experience professionally with artistic-based teaching and a minimum of a BA or BFA in the fine arts or art therapy.
  • Record of personal artistic ability.

Able to create safe, supportive, inclusive, and fun environment for youth.

Artist must submit the following:

 

  • Artist’s Resume and brief cover letter
  • Project proposal:Include a description of a 2-6 session project (2 hours per session) including media and materials that would be required to support project, and relevancy to programmatic objectives.                                    
  • Artist’s Work: Please submit 8-10 images of a recent body of your work and samples of client work and/or field experience. A CD with high resolution jpegs is the recommended format.  Websites of work may also be listed. Include up to ten images of produced artwork. For New Media and Time-Based Media (Sound, Film/Video, etc), send up to ten minutes on CD-ROM, DVD/audiotape.  Images must be clearly labeled with artist’s full name, and accompanied by an image checklist.  Submission of a wide range of work is encouraged. After all applicationsbeen reviewed, selected candidates will be interviewed.
  • References (name, relationship, email and phone)
